Full House

Yes, generally when I'm speaking about Full House, I'm refering to the 90's classic that could still be considered a favorite. This week; however, I'm speaking literally. Now on a regular basis, it's me and my babies: Gracie, Addie, and Zues in my little condo. I guess holidays call for special circumstances though.

This Easter weekend will be full of company, and full of chaos I'm sure. Mom comes today! Actually I think she's here already... for a class in the city Wednesday thru Friday. Which will be a nice change to have her around for a couple nights when I get home from work. Now can't forget the boys. Dad and Mark plan on coming Thursday after Mark gets off work. Great, right? Except I have to be at work all day Friday while they're there. And Saturday I'm travelling down to Richmond with the girls for Amy's bridal shower/tea party (ahh very excited about the official start of wedding season!!). So, though I'm so happy to have my family up, I will feel bad leaving them to entertain themselves two days in a row.

BIG NEWS... Found out last night (thru a little facebook stalking which I am SO happy I engaged in) that Giada de Laurentis is going to be doing a book signing at Sur La Table at Pentagon Row on Saturday! So exciting right?! Well- it starts at 11, should end around 1: which should be the same time Chels and I should be on our way to Richmond. Hopefully I'll get to Arlington early, be up front, meet that fabulous woman, and then road trip while blissfully happy after meeting one of my absolute favorites. Really, she's a definite favorite.

And to top it all off, it's supposed to be in the high 70's and supremely sunny all weekend. Right in the midst of cherry blossom blooms... Received a HORRIBLE email from a colleague though today:
"Due to the extremely unseasonable temperatures that have occurred and are predicting to continue, the peak bloom for the cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin is tomorrow, 31 March. If the temps hit the 80s without lows in the 30s they will fall off by Sunday night. Sad times!!!!!!!!!!!"

Sad times for sure! Hopefully they stick around. Because they're beautiful.

And they make me happy.

Motivation...

It's a sneaky little sucker. And I'm just wondering where it's gone in my life? Now I'm certainly not saying I'm never motivated. Merely that it's not with me the way that it could be or even should be.

My discontent with work will have to be pushed aside. (Funny enough, that's the one area I'm more motivated in than any other. Always doing everything possible to get the job done during the day, and improving the work where I can. Don't get me wrong... I'm incredibly grateful for this career. Everything it's taught me, the people that have been brought into my life because of it, and the amazing opportunities that have presented themselves to me because of it. Most importantly: the chance to travel, and purchasing my first home.) Back to the discontent part... Yes, I do overall like my job and the work I do. But I leave most days feeling unfulfilled. My entire youth was spent playing music, and now my adulthood is spent day after day with computers and spreadsheets. Somedays I find myself lost and in need of that creative outlet.

So... blogging it is. Mostly for myself. Not so much for others at this point. Because truly, the last year has been filled with the most fantastic moments, new experiences, and things that I never want to forget.

So, I'll write to remember. Push myself now, to have something to look back on in the future.

Oh please help me stay MOTIVATED.

inspired by Jon and Kate

Well not by their current situation...

When asked why they signed on with TLC for the show, their response was something along the lines of "what better way to document the lives of our children? what better way to remember?"

There are some really big things going on in my life right now, things that I never want to forget. When I'm old and alone and living in a nursing home, I'll want something to be able to look back on, to bring me back to these days. I don't have my own tv show (though I should), so I figure... why not blog to remember?
So after probably 10 attempts in my life to keep a journal (even a livejournal... remember those?), we'll see what happens....

'Jumping on the bandwagon'

It's official. I'm one year into my career as a government employee, well one year and 8 days actually.

And what a monumental year it has been.

I learned how difficult it is to let go of college, that huge part of me, that defines almost everything I know about myself. I learned what it means to work for a living, to stop living off mommy and daddy, and to provide for yourself (still with a little assistance...) I learned that it doesn't kill you to get up before 5 am, that going to bed at a decent hour on work nights is key, and that naps are possible in the car at lunch. I've learned that working hard for the right people will get you everywhere. I've gotten to travel to some of the most beautiful places... Charleston, Hawaii, San Francisco, Napa. I've come to love my XM radio more than i thought possible (after more hours in trafic over the last year than I'd care to think about). I fell in love. I learned the beauty of craigslist, and with the help of my parents, may just sell everything in their house and mine. I refused to let go of my love for starbucks and my love for shopping. I got an iphone, got my baby puppy. But somehow managed to save enough money to make the exciting (terrifying?) decision to buy a condo.

And all of it is worth remembering...
